My Sister , The Serial Killer By Oyinkan Braithwaite

This is my first blog post here and I’ll be sharing my thoughts on this book.

3.5 stars;

Just because it fell at some point for me and the ending again? Killed me

“I dare you to find a flaw

in her beauty;

or to bring forth a woman

who can stand beside

her without wilting.”

“I was tempted to pray, to beg that no door be opened as we journeyed from door to lift, but I am fairly certain that those are exactly the types of prayers He doesn’t answer. So I chose instead to rely on luck and speed.”

“Love is not a weed,

It cannot grow where it please…”

I won’t lie , I had expectations and was held in suspense for a long time. All of a sudden! My expectations dropped. In the beginning of the book, you’ll be thrilled and you’ll want to know why Korede is still helping Ayoola with getting away with murder. You will yearn to know why she is still trying to protect her little sister. She choses her crush over her later on , but he turns out to be an asshole no cap. I expected the man who was in coma to find out though. It turned out to be so casual and instead of the end to keep me in suspense , it kept me in shock. I really hope there’s a sequel because the consistency in this book fades towards the ending and in the end , It’s disappointing. It’s a good read overall and the way the writer describes the plot , the use of words and the Character development is A list.

Is there a book that you have read in a short space of time? I read this book in less than 48 hours!

I’d love to commend the Poems in this book and the fact that it brings deep meaning.

The way the writer uses words to describe people and things is top notch. The writer sets this book in our modern day Lagos and introduces us to the family of two sisters; Korede and Ayoola. There are also yoruba terms used which is almost proper because the plot is in the West. Korede has to clean up her Sister’s mess all the time , it seems like her sister is fond of killing people and using it as a cover up. Later on, Korede finds out that her crush , the doctor in the hospital she works in , later falls head over heels for her sister and she must do everything to save him from the hands of her sister. All her efforts prove futile and it seems like Her crush has started to see her as a bitter woman which is very hurting. Ayoola becomes the bait later on and is stabbed by Mide , Koredes crush. Even though there’s the police in this book and enough evidence to expose Ayoola , nothing happens. It just became casual and the consistency fell off. There was a lot of suspense beginning and very disappointing in the end. I hope there’s a sequel. It’s a good read overall and the way the writer describes the plot , the use of words and the Character development is A list. I’d recommend it anyways💕.
